Some of us need a little break from all the food, cocktails and sweets after the holiday season (which tends to start about mid-October!). Lately I have been enjoying some great, satisfying spots to grab a healthy meal without feeling starved of all things I love. I thought I’d share, figuring many are in the same boat! Check them out.
Samovar … Amazing teas, the list is endless. The food is thoughtful, interesting, super healthy and fun. Great spot for lunch and dinner. I had it yesterday for lunch and have probably thought about it 5 times since. The Moorish mint tea was divine.
Cafe Gratitude … I wish there was one closer to my house. Great for when your feeling the need for a satisfying, veggie-packed meal. Everything is raw, but don’t let that deter you. I usually go for the macrobiotic bowl or the tamale of the day, the “live” nachos are great… and make sure you get a juice like the wheatgrass cocktail or smoothie!
Gracias Madres – this is Cafe Gratitude’s sister restaurant. Vegan, organic, local and incredibly delicious! Their menu is very creative and interesting, trust me you do not even miss the carnitas. It’s located down in the mission and always has a packed, fun vibe… it’s a good one for something a little more lively, great organic wines.
Blue Barn Gourmet … quick & easy spot to grab a great, hearty salad or sandwich for lunch or dinner. The produce is all locally farmed from Oak Hill Farm, in Sonoma. I’ve tried most of everything on the menu… The Detox and the Fattoush salads are pretty great, and I’m recently into the Turkey sando, simple & delicious.
