Paris “foodie” Update

On our recent trip to Paris, we were finally able to get a tough reservation at Frenchie and we loved it! The concierge at our hotel actually had to ride his bike over to the restaurant to get us a table. It is a neighborhood spot with a daily changing menu of three courses. The food is simply prepared with the focus on sourcing quality ingredients. For our first course, we enjoyed a glass of Rose with some excellent Tuscan liver pate. Next was a delicately prepared chicken dish that was quickly devoured. We finished with a lovely panna cotta with fresh summer berries. All this was washed down with a Mazis-Chambertin burgundy that was incredible! It came recommended by my sister who had been at Frenchie earlier that week. The wine bar across the street serves up lots of great plates as well!
The newly opened Ralph Lauren flagship store on Boulevard Saint Germain is definitely worth a visit, especially for the popular new restaurant Ralph’s. The coveted courtyard tables are a must during the warm weather months. Inside has a hunting lodge feel with its dark mahogany bar, taxidermy and leather banquettes. The old-school American menu has offerings like crab cakes, classic ceasar salad and a variety of burgers. I thoroughly enjoyed the turkey burger with butter lettuce, avocado and fresh mint! And the french fries were perfection.
Le Severo is worth the trek to the 14th arrondissement if you are looking for steak and frites. I can honestly say, its the best I’ve ever had in Paris. We loved the zinc bar and the chalkboard wall dedicated to their wine list. The menu is simple and the food is spot on. Enough said!
